DS&L is following the news regarding potential new duties on goods being imported from China

To Our Valued Customers:

The Impact of Potential New US Duties on Our Customers

Display Supply & Lighting, Inc. has been following publications regarding potential additional duties on certain goods being imported from China. According to the U S Trade Representative, under Section 301 if approved, these duties could range from 10% -25% which will be in addition to the current duty rate already imposed on these products. A proposed list 3 of products include lighting products, power supplies and electrical cords.

As a valued customer, we want to alert you to the fact that these duties could be approved and go into effect as early as September, 2018. Should this happen, it is important for you to know this action will retroactively affect your pricing because duties will be applied and passed along as goods arrive into the USA, not according to when an order was placed.

All current orders that have already been confirmed and the products are within the U.S. will be exempt. However, until this is settled, future orders can only be confirmed subject to your paying any additional duties which may be imposed by the US government whenever your order passes through US Customs.

This does not just apply to lighting and electrical products provided by DS&L, but to all such products being imported from China. We are just being proactive and telling you about it.

SO WHAT IS DS&L DOING ABOUT THIS?

Our team continues to monitor this situation and will advise you of pertinent news as it becomes available.

Unlike other companies who are just waiting to see what happens – DS&L is also advocating on your behalf. We have filed an objection with the U S Trade Representative regarding the imposition of additional duties on DS&L products. Our objection is based on a number of factors that we will not disclose for confidentiality purposes. We have been requested to and will testify before the U S Trade Representative later this month at the International Trade Commission to advocate and argue our position on your behalf.

DS&L continues to be your partner – not just your supplier – and that is why we take this kind of proactive approach to representing all of our interests.
